E.ON Energie Increases Transparency of Power Generation Data

In February 2007 E.ON Energie started publishing information on the web concerning maintenance and other outages planned for its large-scale thermal power stations. The information is broken down by generation unit and provides the exact dates for the given years.

We have decided to take another major step forward in this area by setting a new standard in Continental Europe:

  • Besides the installed capacity disclosed for every power plant with a system size exceeding 20 Megawatt (MW), we started publishing the capacity available per unit 365 days in advance (ex ante data).

  • Daily figures for each unit can also be called up to look back at the realized generation values (ex post data).

  • In addition, we are publishing unplanned outages as well as any in-plant event that reduces the availability of a power station unit by more than 100 MW (urgent market messages). We also publish the return to service information of capacities.

Ex ante and ex post data are updated once a day. Urgent market messages are published within 30 minutes.

The publication of data covers power plants which are completely used by E.ON. If we have our partners' consent, it also covers data on the jointly owned power stations we operate.

This increase in transparency will be important to the power generation and trading sectors. We are thus making a major contribution to the continued development of Europe's electricity market with a view to intensifying competition.
